Steam Whistle 12K January 1st, 2009 The Pine Belt Pacers, represented by Becky Ryder and Audrey Jackson, presented the Trace with a check in the amount of $1500 that was raised at their annual 12K Steam Whistle Run. The donation will be used to develop the education/nature classroom which will be located at the Denbury Beaver Pond. Accepting the check for the Trace was Board President Lynn Cartlidge. The Girl Scouts in Hattiesburg hosted a Girl Scout walking event, for Let's Go Walking Mississippi," on the Longleaf Trace from the Gateway to the I-59 Overpass on Saturday, September 8, 2007. Over 500 Girl Scouts and their families attended. All Girl Scouts who participated and completed all requirements earned patches/badges. For more information contact Susan Yarrow at 601.582.1455.
