2nd Annual Trace Update Presentation and Member Appreciation Luncheon 12/09/2009
Steam Whistle 12K January 1st, 2009

The Pine Belt Pacers, represented by Becky Ryder and Audrey Jackson, presented the Trace with a check in the amount of $1500 that was raised at their annual 12K Steam Whistle Run.  The donation will be used to develop the education/nature classroom which will be located at the Denbury Beaver Pond.
Accepting the check for the Trace was Board President Lynn Cartlidge.

The Girl Scouts in Hattiesburg hosted a Girl Scout walking event, for Let's Go Walking Mississippi," on the Longleaf Trace from the Gateway to the I-59 Overpass on Saturday, September 8, 2007.  Over 500 Girl Scouts and their families attended. All Girl Scouts who participated and completed all requirements earned patches/badges. For more information contact Susan Yarrow at 601.582.1455. See pictures of the Girl Scout Walk.

The June 9th 2007 National Trails Day / Get Healthy Hattiesburg event

Shamrock 5K Fun Run April 14 2007 to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse of America, 8:00 am at the USM Longleaf Trace Gateway Entrance. For more information contact Brittany Barkley, Vice President of Kappa Delta Sorority at USM, at 601-278-1700 or e-mail brittany.barkley@usm.edu. All proceeds go to help the prevention of child abuse.  80% of proceeds will benefit Hattiesburg’s Child Abuse Center and 20% will be donated to the National Prevent Child Abuse of America Organization Prizes: 1st place $100, 2nd place $75, and 3rd place $50.
